One Blow

You were the best
the worst thing
to happen to me
A thin dotted line
shakily drawn
between love and hate
Where we go
after we’ve bled out
How we find our way
to the right side-
Maybe we don’t.
We become different people
from here
apathetic, passive
always curling inward

One blow and that’s
the trust gone
Now you open your mouth
like a raised fist
I dread your words
this room
the thing I was doing
at that moment-
I dread the feeling
of losing you
again and again
Each a new scar
on a bruised heart
And what I miss most
is the safe place
you never were.

  1. Felicity, what a powerful piece this is. I can feel it, in my guts and my heart. “You open your mouth/like a raised fist…”

Here’s to all the strong people, who open their *hearts*, who take the big risks.

    Hugs,

  2. May be my favorite piece…Although each one is brilliant in it’s own way to me. But the open mouth like a raised fist…yes, just yes…and missing the safe place you never were…resonated with me..
    Very strong…Very poignant.. -alex
