I won’t lie to you. Sales have been… poor. Devastatingly poor. Embarrassingly poor. Erotic Passages is more like a creaky, dusty, dank old dungeon, haunted by erections past than the seductive, alluring walk down Passion Lane that I’d hoped for.
I haven’t let it get me down, though. I’ve been reading up on ways to promote it further, without flogging the proverbial dead horse (unless you like that?) Researching and trying to come up with new ideas, ways to revamp it, make it more interesting – but the truth is, it is what it is. You either like it enough to plunk down three bucks, or you don’t. And I’m okay with that.
Obviously, I will continue on, improving, hopefully following up with bigger and better – yep, I said it. I went there. There.
There are some interesting facts floating around out there though. Things my readers may not know, that they may be missing out on. Allow me to enlighten you.
Recent research shows that 75% of men have or will experience impotence at some point in their lives. And impotence isn’t the occasional case of “Sorry, honey,” but prolonged periods of “I’m REALLY sorry, honey!” The plus side is that, of those men case-studied, the ones with healthy sexual minds, i.e., readers of (quality) erotica to stimulate both mind and body, those numbers dropped significantly into the single digit range. Says Dr. Simon Caldwell of the U.S. Center for the Study of Sexual Health, “Men who were previously impotent or severely dysfunctioned saw increased penile function within hours of reading truly well-written, stimulating material, and a complete turnaround after less than a month.”
Another study, focused on women, showed a staggering 90% of women who regularly indulged in erotica were more likely to initiate a sexual encounter with their partner. “Reading about sex not only arouses a person, but raises self-confidence and esteem levels immensely,” reports psychologist and behavior analyst Miranda Wang. “Women who see other women acting in a strong and confident manner are far more likely to mimic that behavior.”
And when read by couples, research is strongly for the benefits of erotica to fan those boudoir flames. 87% of couples polled from ages 25 to 80 said having that favorite volume of naughty tales near the bed improved not only the quality of their bedroom play, but greatly increased the frequency of sexual encounters. “Couples often use sexy stories to role play,” states Wang. “Taking on the personas of their favorite characters and living out their sexual exploits can further remove any stigmas from kinky bedroom play, and bring a couple infinitely closer together.” Well, take that, Gallup!
Also, some surprising statistics:
Masturbating to erotica once a day increases life span by an average of 2.7 years in men, and 1.8 years in women.
Adding some form of kink to your ‘play list’, no matter how mild or extreme, increases sexual potency by 38%.
Exciting the mind sexually on a daily basis through reading erotica or watching porn reduces Alzheimer and dementia risk by 29%.
People who read erotica have a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, anal leakage, addiction, obesity, and blindness.
Not bad for 2.99!
